LEEF responds to the news of the death of George Floyd with deep sadness and regret, and many LEEF members will have joined us in wanting to ensure this and other similar incidents are suitably publicised and remembered through appropriate action. LEEF accepts that engrained racist or other forms of discrimination must not be tolerated or perpetuated, and we all need to move to a new level of comprehension, empathy and inclusion of BAME people throughout society. Historically, BAME Environmental Educators have been significantly underrepresented in the London-wide network. LEEF has not only recognised this but is also committed to actively working to address this throughout our professional sector. We understand that the reasons for underrepresentation are complex, and we are committed to spending time and resources exploring and expanding our role in encouraging active and effective participation of BAME educators in our network, which will enrich it immeasurably for all. #Blacklivesmatter
