Melissa is Lecturer in Science Education at King's College London. She is currently director of the Science PGCE at King's and for the past nine years has worked annually with up to 70 science graduates.
Graduating in Environmental Science, Melissa has always been interested in nature - in all its forms. As a secondary science teacher and FSC project officer she has used local outdoor spaces in her teaching of both ecology and more broadly science. With colleagues she has developed a number of teaching resources and has been busy researching why some science teachers struggle to teach outside – and how this might be addressed!
Melissa was awarded her fellowship of LEEF on 1 June 2015.
Melissa's more recent publications focus on Environmental Education in Secondary schools, downloadable here
An update to those documents, called 'Taking Stock of Environmental Education in England' published in 2020, is available here
